Guatemala and Belize 10 Day: Guatemala & Belize Rainforest
INTO: Guatemala City OUT OF: Belize City
Start: Thu or Mon Day 1, Arrival – Antigua Guests are met & transfer to Antigua. (1hr) Antigua 2N Day 2, Architecture & History Tour (B). Guests will take a half day walking tour of Antigua. (3-4hr). The tour takes in the main square, Palace, Cathedral, La Merced Church & San Francisco Church. All entrances are included. Free afternoon. • Add in an additional afternoon tour to a Coffee Farm or specialist textile tour. • Add in an extra day to climb the active volcano of Pacaya or to go hiking, biking, birdwatching Day 3, Lake Tour & Visit to Villages (B,L) This morning guests transfer 2.5hrs through the highlands to the scenic Lake Atitlan. Upon arrival guests will take a scenic boat ride across Lake Atitlan (30min) to the village of San Juan La Laguna to visit a textile cooperative, medicinal plant center and local naif painter workshops. Then on to Santiago where they have lunch in a local hotel and tour the village visiting the Maya God Maximon and learn about the textiles, spiritualism and beliefs of the T’zutujil Maya. Return to hotel. Atitlan 1N • Upgrade with a helicopter transfer Day 4, Chichi Market (B,L) Today guests transfer approx. 2hr to the famous market at Chichi. Time for shopping in this fabulous craft market and an opportunity to see Maya rituals being performed in the Catholic Church before transferring onto Guatemala City for the evening flight to Flores and transfer to your jungle hotel. Tikal Area 3N • Upgrade with a helicopter transfer Day 5, Yaxha Sunset (B) Guests enjoy a free morning to relax. After lunch they transfer to Yaxha National Park (approx 1hr) to explore this atmospheric lakeside site ending with refreshments & wonderful views at sunset over the rainforest canopy from atop the main temples. • Add a Canopy Tour in the morning • Upgrade with a luxury picnic Day 6, Tikal (B,L) Today guests enjoy a tour to explore the amazing UNESCO protected Mayan Temple site of Tikal where huge Mayan temples rise above the jungle canopy and monkeys and tropical birds are abundant in the surrounding rainforest. After lunch guests transfer back to their hotel to relax. Day 7, Xunantunich & San Ignacio (B) This morning guests transfer across the border by land and along the way visit the impressive Mayan ruins of Xunantunich before transferring on to the hotel. Cayo District, 3N Day 8, Cave Adventure (B,L) Enjoy an adventurous cave / river trip to see ancient Mayan ritual sites where artifacts remain. Choose between Barton Creek where you canoe through the cave or Actun Tunich Maknal for a more strenuous & adventurous jungle & cave trip with a surprise at the end! Day 9, Caracol & Mountain Pine Ridge (B,L). Travel through the scenic Mountain Pine Ridge National Park on your way to the famous Mayan Site at Caracol. At Caracol enjoy a private guided tour of this impressive site which is the largest Maya site in Belize. On the way back to the hotel stop to visit the Rio Frio Caves and Pools. Day 10, Transfer out Transfer to Belize International Airport in plenty of time for your flight out.
