| Day 1:
San José Meet & greet by Albee Adventures at the airport and transfer to your hotel. You will receive your travel documents. Overnight in San José at the Hotel Grano de Oro (breakfast). Grano de Oro Hotel: Situated on a shady street just off Paseo Colón, San José's main thoroughfare, Hotel Grano de Oro is a true oasis, a sanctuary in the heart of the city. Converted from a Tropical Victorian mansion, the 35-room hotel maintains the warmth and comfort of a private home. Hallways lined with period photographs and original art meander through the building and present lush tropical flower arrangements and luxuriant plants at every turn. Italian tile fountains grace intimate atriums, ensuring that one is never far from the soothing melody of falling water. Day 2: San José After an excellent tropical breakfast start off for your adventures to La Paz Waterfalls Garden and the active Poas Volcano. Your rental car will be delivered directly to your hotel. Volcano Poas: Botos Lagoon is a filled-up crater in the Parque Nacional Volcan Poas. Its deep blue waters contrast with the dense tropical forest that surround it, making it the perfect spot for the stereotypical Indian sacrifice- throwing a young maiden into the mouth of a crater or a lagoon. One of the craters measures 1.5 kilometers in diameter (0.9 miles) and is 300 meters deep (900 feet). At the bottom of this prehistoric-looking hole, there is a medium sized lagoon, that spews boiling sulphurous gases. La Paz: Waterfall Gardens is open year round from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with our last shuttle pick up from the exit trail at 5:00 p.m. We recommend our last visitors to enter the park at 3:00 p.m. to insure that they have enough time to walk the primary trails. Overnight at the Hotel Grano de Oro (breakfast). Day 3: Arenal Volcano Scenic drive with your own four-wheel drive to Arenal Volcano. Situated near the Resort is the Arenal Volcano National Park, which encompasses thousands of acres of pristine rainforest and teems with tropical birds and wildlife. Hike in the National Park and take a close-up exploration of a lava flow. overnight at the Arenal Springs Resort (breakfast). Arenal Springs Resort: The Arenal Springs Hotel features colonial style rooms, with all the amenities that one can expect from 46 room mountain retreat, (6 rooms are specially designed for the handicapped people). Each room can accommodate up to five people, and they feature their own terrace, king or queen size beds, air conditioning, cable TV, ceiling fan, refrigerator, telephone, security box, private bathroom, hair dryer, and lush tropical gardens. Day 4: Arenal Volcano Hike & Hot Springs Before the active period of 1968, a lavish canopy of vegetation covered the Arenal Volcano. People that climbed Arenal’ s summit related that inside the crater there were big trees and at night, they slept in places where there was some heat due to small steam outlets. Right now the green area is located at the east side of the Mountain, and other little green parts can be seen on the north and the south of the volcano. Enjoy the most extraordinary view of the Arenal Volcano on a gentle Hike along the base of this marvelous “Mountain of Fire”. The Hike begins on the active side of the volcano, which takes you through the forest over recent lava flows and to the destroyed area now in the process of regeneration. We offer a Hike of 2½ hours long the trail gets as close as five hundred meters from the lava flows, all this in the National park of Arenal Volcano. Afterwards soak in the Ecotermales hot springs (dinner included). Overnight at Arenal Springs Resort (Breakfast). |
