Guatemala, Belize and Honduras 15 Day: Highlights
INTO: San Pedro Sula OUT OF: Belize City
Day 1, Arrival – San Pedro Sula Guests upon arrival into San Pedro Sula airport will check in for their onward internal flight to La Ceiba (20mins) where they will be met and transferred to their hotel. La Ceiba Area 3N Day 2, Pico Bonito Adventure Tours (B,L) Today guests can choose and either take a day trip out to the beautiful sandy beach islands of Cayos Cochinos, have an exhilarating white water rafting ride, take a boat tour of the Cuero y Salado Nature Park, go horse riding on the beach or have a day to explore & hike the Pico Bonito National Park. Day 3, Pico Bonito Tours (B,L) Today guests can choose and either take a day trip out to the beautiful sandy beach islands of Cayos Cochinos, have an exhilerating white water rafting ride, take a boat tour of the Cuero y Salado Nature Park, go horse riding on the beach or have a day to explore & hike the Pico Bonito National Park Day 4, Transfer to Copan & Coffee Farm. (B, L) Guests transfer to La Ceiba for a flight to San Pedro Sula and onward transfer to the pretty highland town of Copan Ruinas. (3hrs) Along the way guests can stop to visit a local coffee farm to learn about the coffee process and enjoy your lunch there.Copan Ruinas 2N Day 5, Copan Archaeology Site & Bird Park (B,L) Guests are transferred to the Archaeology site at Copan. Here they enjoy a guided tour of this beautiful site which is famous for its intricately carved stelea & hieroglyphic stairway as well as its comprehensive museum. When ready guests return to Copan and to the Bird Park for lunch. After lunch guests enjoy a walk in the lush, shady river valley location of the Copan Bird Park where they get a local guide to accompany them and see and interact with a number of beautiful tropical birds that have been rescued from locales all over Honduras. When ready guests are transferred back to their hotel. Day 6, Transfer to Antigua Today guests transfer 5 hours into Guatemala and to the pretty colonial town of Antigua. Free afternoon to explore Antigua 2N • Upgrade with a private charter flight Day 7, Architecture & History Tour (B) Guests will take a half day walking tour of Antigua. (3-4hr). The tour takes in the main square, Palace, Cathedral, La Merced Church & San Francsico Church. All entrances are included. Free afternoon. • Add in an additional afternoon tour to a Coffee Farm or specialist textile tour. • Add in an extra day to climb the active volcano of Pacaya or to go hiking, biking, birdwatching Day 8, Transfer to Lake Atitlan via Solola. (B) Guests will transfer through the highlands to Lake Atitlan (2.5hrs). Along the way they will be able to stop and explore the wonderful authentic market at Solola. Atitlan 2N Day 9, Lake Tour & Visit to Villages (B,L) This morning guests take a scenic boat ride across Lake Atitlan (30min) to the village of San Juan La Laguna to visit a textile cooperative, medicinal plant center and local naïf painter workshops. Then we go on to Santiago where they have lunch in a local hotel and tour the village visiting the Maya God Maximon and learn about the textiles, spiritualism and beliefs of the T’zutujil Maya. Return to hotel • Upgrade with a helicopter transfer to Lake Atitlan Day 10, Chichi Market (B,L) (Sunday & Thursday) Today guests transfer approx. 1hr to the famous market at Chichi. Time for shopping in this fabulous craft market and an opportunity to see Maya rituals being performed in the Catholic Church before transferring onto Guatemala City for the evening flight to Flores and transfer to your jungle hotel. Tikal Area 2N • Upgrade with a helicopter transfer Day 11, Tikal (B,L) Today guests enjoy a tour to explore the amazing UNESCO protected Mayan Temple site of Tikal where huge Mayan temples rise above the jungle canopy and monkeys and tropical birds are abundant in the surrounding rainforest. After lunch guests transfer back to their hotel to relax. Day 12, Xunantunich & San Ignacio (B) This morning guests transfer across the border by land and along the way visit the impressive Mayan ruins of Xunantunich before transferring on to the hotel. Cayo District, 3N Day 13, Cave Adventure (B,L) Enjoy an adventurous cave / river trip to see ancient Mayan ritual sites where artifacts remain. Choose between Barton Creek where you canoe through the cave or Actun Tunich Nukmal for a more strenuous & adventurous jungle & cave trip with a surprise at the end! Day 14, Caracol & Mountain Pine Ridge (B,L). Travel through the scenic Mountain Pine Ridge National Park on your way to the famous Mayan Site at Caracol. At Caracol enjoy a private guided tour of this impressive site which is the largest Maya site in Belize. On the way back to the hotel stop to visit the Rio Frio Caves and Pools. Day 15, Transfer out Transfer to Belize International Airport in plenty of time for your flight out.
