Day 1 Arrive in Chennai to a traditional welcome and transfer to your hotel, O/N Chennai Day 2 A full day’s sightseeing in and around Chennai, O/N in Chennai Day 3 Drive to Mahabalipuram, enroute visiting the artists’ villages of Dakshinchitra and Cholamandalam. Relax by the beach, O/N Mahabalipuram. Day 4 AM excursion to Kanchipuram, PM sightseeing of Mahabalipuram, O/N in Mahabalipuram Day 5 Drive to Pondicherry, take a Heritage Trail walk with time for ashram visit, shopping and South India’s best cafes, O/N in Pondicherry Day 6 Drive to Tanjore via UNESCO World Heritage Temples, O/N in Tanjore Day 7 Sightseeing of Tanjore, drive to Trichy and enjoy a late afternoon city tour, O/N Trichy. Day 8 Drive to Karaikudi visiting Sithannavasal (famous for ancient monuments and Jain caves with intricate wall Paintings) and continue into the Chettinad district, O/N Chettinad Mansion, Karaikudi Day 9 Explore more of the unique Chettinad culture including a visit to the hand-painted tile factory. Drive to Madurai, PM sightseeing, O/N Madurai Day 10 Visit the home of Dr Shobana Kumar, an accomplished artist in the Tanjore style, O/N in Madurai Day 11 Drive to Kanyakumari, the southern-most tip of the Indian subcontinent. Continue on via Padmanabapuram Teak Palace.
